We really do get terribly excited when pictures of one of our brides land in our inbox, and when we saw these images of gorgeous Kat (in her beautiful bespoke lace wedding dress) and her new husband Rich at their barn wedding in the Cotswolds, we couldn’t wait to share them with you all.

Kat and Rich were married in May of this year at Merriscourt Barns in the Costwolds, and doesn’t it look like a beautiful day for this countryside setting? The couple didn’t stick to a set theme for their day, but drew on the natural surroundings with a colour palette of greens and whites with a hint of gold, using plenty of natural greenery within their barn venue.

Aren’t these flower displays just beautiful? So simple yet so chic, and thanks to the bride and her Mum’s collection of vintage glassware which they used to decorate the venue, the wedding also had a slight 1920s/1930s vibe, which we love. All of the floristry on the day was created by Fiona Perry.

Onto the dress – and we think you’ll agree that Kat looks stunning in her long lace wedding dress with low back and three quarter length sleeves. Kat’s design was customised from the Camille dress in our collection, after she mentioned she had her heart set on a low back and having sleeves as part of her look. We switched up the original sleeveless version of Camille especially for Kat, and this made to measure gown was the result!

Kat came to us after having a bit of trouble finding her dream dress, and admits that she didn’t entirely enjoy the process of searching for a dress for her big day;

“I wanted something with a vintage feel but that was new and made to fit me. I tried on a lot of dresses in shops in London (all along these sort of lines) and ended up really disappointed with the whole process and took a break for a couple of months.  I found Sally online and made an appointment after a little while. I felt immediately more comfortable when I went to her studio than I had been before.  I loved the quality of the materials and I enjoyed the experience of trying on the dresses.  Sally was also open to adaptations which made me confident I could get the dress I wanted.  Although I hadn’t chosen the dress yet, I was pretty set on getting my dress from Sally after the first visit.”

But the dress Kat ended up wearing wasn’t the one she’d thought she would go for, and she offers a reminder to all brides to try on the one you’re not entirely sure about as you might end up loving it. That’s what happened to Kat with her Camille lace wedding dress;

“I didn’t even try on the dress I ended up with the first time I went – I tried it on at the last minute on my second visit and felt immediately comfortable in it.  Once I had it on I realised I loved the lace and the fit and Sally was again open to adaptations I wanted – I had my heart set on a low back and also wanted sleeves so my decision was made!”

We’re so pleased that we were able to help Kat navigate the tricky world of wedding dresses and find something she loved and felt comfortable in. We have so many brides admit they feel overwhelmed when it comes to choosing THE dress so we know how hard it can be. Luckily we’re on hand with helpful advice to make sure you end up with a dress that’s totally YOU.
