paradise photoshoot

Earlier this year I was contacted by Helena Talbot of HT Headwear asking if I would join her with some of my dresses for a promotional photoshoot to showcase some of her latest designs. It was a real pleasure to work with Helena and photographer Katherine Newman, at the exotically decorated venue, Paradise by way of Kensal Green which was the perfect setting for the soft, smoky colours of the Elsa and Rosie dresses which were complemented beautifully by HT’s accessories.

Here are some of my favourite images from the shoot and the full set can be seen on the fabulous Love my dress wedding blog

Cate dress in 3 patterns of French leavers lace

Adrienne  is a super soft crushed faux fur cape. It is a wonderfully glamorous structured ’40s shape with a luxurious silk lining in various delicate shades. Each one has a vintage lace detail on the inside making it unique.

I love the old time music hall look that HT’s birdcage veil headpiece gives to the Rosie dress.

Last month I showed my collection at the Wedding Project which was held at Sutton House. There I was visited by Emily parr who tried on my Cate lace dress and rose veil for an article she was writing. Laura McCluskey took these gorgeous photos of her which beautifully illustrate my love of a modern and vintage mix.

Sutton House , built in 1535 is a beautiful, atmopspheric Tudor house in Hackney, East London which is run by the National Trust. Originally built by a prominent courtier of Henry VIII, Sir Ralph Sadlier it has housed a succession of merchants and huguenot silkweavers. It has the original oak panelled rooms as seen in these pictures, carved stone fireplaces and a charming courtyard.

Sutton House is now  licenced for civil wedding ceremonies.

” We had such a great day, and I absolutely loved wearing my Violet dress. I felt so special, yet very comfortable at the same time. I’m also so, so glad I got the veil and head dress. I loved wearing the veil, my only regret being that i did not wear it for the whole day! Thank you again for designing such a gorgeous and perfect dress.”

Siobhan chose to wear the romantically demure Violet style in antique look French lace for her Edinburgh wedding, which she perfectly accessorised with the silk and Rose lace veil and an exquisite head dress by Emma Hill ( stocked by Sally Lacock). The photographer was Candysnaps and this beautiful wedding can be seen featured on the Love My Dress blog where you can see the full set of photos with lots of lovely details.

Oxfam wedding auction

Earlier this year I was asked by Annabel of the inspiring Love My Dress blog and Kate Kellaway-Moore of Oxfam Weddings if I would like to be involved in the amazing charity fundraising project that is The Oxfam Wedding Auction. Planned to coincide with the first anniversay of the Royal Wedding, Oxfam are running an ebay auction to raise vital funds to help people living in poverty around the world.

We were delighted to have our beautiful vintage inspired  Violet dress, shown below, selected to represent the 1920s for the photoshoot organised by Annabel of Love My Dress to help promote the auction. Showing bridal style through the ages and bringing together some of the best people and loveliest products in the industry, the shoot was styled by Tiffany Grant Riley and photographed by Eliza Claire and Annamarie Stepney You can see the full photoshoot here.

The beautiful floral headpiece was made by by appointment only design

The online auction will run from Sunday 29th April to Wednesday 9th May on ebay. Word has it that there are now over 100 donations with a total retail value of £70,000. Eleven of these are from bridal designers of which we are one.

We have donated our May French lace dress from the current collection and hope that it raises lots of money. May is a beautiful, elegant and flattering ’40s style dress made in the most beautiful lightly corded lace.   ‘Happy Bidding’ as they say in the world of ebay and remember that all the money raised from this auction goes to Oxfam unwrapped emergency work  so bid high.

This beautiful head piece by Cherished Vintage  would kook stunning with the May dress. Bid high to make sure you win both.

From the very start of the process you were so kind and helpful. You totally put me at ease and I honestly never felt near to stressed about the dress which was a miracle. The dress itself was absolutely beautiful, I really did love it. On the actual day, it was so comfortable and moved so well.
